Working Towards A Sustainable Mining Industry

At Binkolo Community Local Miners (BCLM), we recognize the growing global responsibility on the mining sector to manage its social and environmental impacts with integrity. We firmly believe that responsible and community-centered gold mining can serve as a powerful catalyst for sustainable development, while delivering meaningful economic and social benefits to the people of Binkolo Village, Bombali District, and Sierra Leone at large.

Our ESG Philosophy

Leaving A Positive Legacy

At PG Gold, ESG principles are central to our business. We are committed to conducting our mining operations in a responsible and safe manner - respecting the environment and the wellbeing of our employees, contractors and communities.

We are investing in renewable energy to power our project as part of a hybrid power generation system, with a 24MW power system incorporating a combination of solar PV, battery energy storage systems and diesel generators.

Our Tailings Management Facility will be designed to exceed modern standards, providing a safe and effective facility subject to regular monitoring and audit.

Our robust environmental management approach has received endorsement from the regulatory authorities, with all environmental licenses and permits for the project authorized.

Earning our Social Licence to Operate

At Binkolo Community Local Miners (BCLM), the health, safety, and wellbeing of our miners and neighboring communities remain our highest priority.

We are deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of health and safety within our operations. With a clear goal of zero harm, we proactively implement safety measures and awareness programs, ensuring that every member of our team returns home safely each day.

Our respect for human dignity extends beyond our workforce to the communities around us. Through regular, transparent dialogue with local residents, traditional leaders, and government representatives, we’ve fostered strong, trust-based relationships. We remain dedicated to investing in meaningful community projects that deliver lasting social and economic benefits for Binkolo Village and the wider Bombali District.

Our projects contribute to the socio-economic development of our neighboring communities through local job creation, supply chain opportunities, education and training.

Since our inception, we have worked in partnership with our communities to prioritize the needs of local people and invest in community projects in the areas of health, education, infrastructure and agriculture. As we transition from developer to gold producer in the years to come, we will continue to deliver on our promise of creating long term value for all.

Leading Environmental Stewardship

Environmental stewardship is at the heart of our operations as we seek to minimise our impact, protect local biodiversity and reduce climate change impacts.

With our Baomahun Gold Project area home to some challenging terrain including hill crests, forest, valley swamps and waterways, our rigorous Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessment (ESHIA) ensures careful management and mitigation of any environmental impacts.

We recognize the impacts of climate change and water constraints may impact our operations. Therefore, our comprehensive Water Management Plan includes the implementation of water management controls, including opportunities for water reduction and reuse.

At Binkolo Community Local Miners (BCLM), we are guided by a strong commitment to operate in a safe, ethical, and socially responsible manner, ensuring that our mining activities bring lasting benefits to our community and region.

We maintain a positive and cooperative relationship with the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources, the National Minerals Agency (NMA), and other relevant government institutions. BCLM is dedicated to full compliance with the Sierra Leone Mines and Minerals Act, as well as all applicable regulations governing responsible artisanal and small-scale mining operations.

Our governance approach aligns with recognized industry practices for community-centered mining and environmental protection.
